Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is your goal for this experience, Monique?
My main goal is that people will have an opportunity to be exposed to the work of anti-racism so they can understand what it looks like to engage in this work. And also so they can understand that it is possible for them to do this within the realm of influence they already have in their lives, but it first starts with them. My goal is to provide an honest space for the people to ask questions about things regarding race that they otherwise wouldn’t have a place to ask. I want them to ask the questions and do the work, so they can begin to work through their racist beliefs and move towards supportive beliefs about Black folks, which can move us towards Black liberation.
What if I miss a session?
If you miss a session, that is okay. The live sessions are recorded and made available to you so you can listen to them and do the homework in time for the next session.
What if I feel too embarrassed or afraid to ask questions?
This is where you have to be okay with feeling uncomfortable so you can learn and grow. This is a grace-filled place to ask the questions you are embarrassed to ask.
What if I do not do the homework before the next session?
This experience is what you put into it. The more you do, the more you will get out of it. I will not be checking your homework, as this work is your responsibility. But I do encourage you to do the homework because it is designed to enhance the learning experience.
How is the live program different from the self-paced version?
The live program is a facilitated, structured approach with weekly group sessions. The self-paced version is 100% self-paced, so you practice personal accountability on your own schedule. It includes self-paced lessons in place of live instructional units, along with the resources, workbooks, and guest features offered in the live group, without the time constraints. It is a fit for the student whose time fluctuates.
What can I expect?
This experience is created to provide a curated curriculum with lectures, articles, videos, and resources to help you unpack the concepts related to anti-racism. Learners are able to apply the information to their lives. You will grow from this experience to have the words, confidence, and clarity to identify and eliminate racism in your everyday life.
Are there any prerequisites?
No. Everything you need is included with enrollment.
Where do I take my lessons?
Right from your home or office. Our courses are held on Zoom. The Zoom link is located inside the course player, so links to join the Zoom room for your course are never sent by email. Almost all devices can watch and participate with Zoom.
For the best result, pre-select a quiet, private space and use headphones.
