Shine Bright School

This was a great new approach to Monique's Shine Classes. I have taken I think 4-5 classes now, and this one with the more question and answer approach allowed it to be more personal, which helped really bring home Black love as liberation. The other classes I have taken have also been incredible, and this one is another I'm so happy to have joined.

It was great to connect with everyone on the topic of love. I enjoyed hearing Monique and Chris's answers on topic such as navigating arguments, and the difference between working on yourself versus trying to perfect yourself for love. I also liked how the class moved easily between funny moments and serious moments.

Confrontational in a way that actually allows you to heal — and doesn’t just brush feelings back under old rugs. Necessary, and beyond that highly impactful.

Chris & Monique answered audience questions spanning so many different topics within relationships. Their love for each other is beautiful and real. They did not shy away from topics that are hard to talk about and I came away with some great things to reflect on and talk to my partner about.

I would recommend this class and others of Monique's for education on Black liberation and anti-racism education. Monique holds a safe space for herself and participants for an enjoyable learning experience. As a participant I have a lot of inner work to do on my end to continue the work and I appreciate Monique's guidance.
